Teddy bear hugs

DONATE

This is a picture of a Build-A-Bear Workshop store. Two of Parents for Children's young supporters decided to try out how easy it is to make their own teddy bears in advance of the Stuffed with Hugs event on Saturday 19 May 2007.

For Stuffed with Hugs, the first 200 guests at 38 Build-A-Bear Workshop stores throughout the UK on 19 May were offered the chance to make a bear that Build-A-Bear Workshop then donated to Parents for Children.

Our young friends each chose a bear to make. A penguin and a cow were the lucky ones who would be moving into a new home with a loving family. Then it was time to get making!

After filling the bears, and choosing a sound for each one to make, it was time to put them under the fluffing machine – a little bit like taking them to the hairdressers. Then our two friends chose clothes for them.

As well as clothes, there were lots of other things to choose from, like an igloo for the penguin. And when the bears were fully dressed in their lovely new clothes, it was time to register them and receive an official birth certificate for each of them!

Then it was time for a big hug before the bears were popped into their boxes for a safe journey home to their new family.
