London Triathlon

Triathlon is the UK's fastest growing sport and each year more and more people take part in the London Triathlon – the world's largest triathlon. 2007 – the 11th year of the event – saw around 8,400 people swimming, biking and running, as individuals or in the team event. For over half the participants it was their first triathlon, but many say that it certainly won't be their last. In fact, we know of at least two people who took part in Parents for Children teams in 2007 who are now planning on doing all three disciplines this year!

Read all about it!

Parents for Children had 20 relay teams taking part in the 2006 event, plus a few brave souls who completed all three events themselves (including our Director, Edwina Brocklesby, the current European champion duathlete in her age group). You can read the triathlon story of one Parents for Children supporter here.

Join the 2008 Parents for Children team

This year we had 21 relay teams taking part in the Olympic distance at the 2007 London Triathlon, on 4th August. The event was a huge success and the Parents for Children relay teams that had a fantastic day of sun, sport and fun!

If you would like to join one of our 2008 relay teams, we would love to hear from you. Don't worry if there's just one of you – our events team have a list of people who want to take part, and which event (swim, bike or run) they want to do, and can put you in touch with others to make up a team of three.

If you already have a guaranteed London Triathlon place, as an individual or as a team, and would like to raise money for Parents for Children, please get in touch.

You can use our online form, email [email protected], or call 020 7520 2880.

Corporate teams

Why not get a team together from your company to compete in the London Triathlon for Parents for Children?

It's a great way to promote the idea of working as a team while encouraging fitness and social responsibility. Entering more than one team can lead to some healthy internal competition. Everyone in the company can join in, reading about the teams' training progress on your company intranet or newsletter. You can also get clients involved, not only asking for sponsorship, but how about making a real day of it by inviting some clients along in August to watch the event, and then celebrate at a post-triathlon party? Or you could encourage some of your clients to enter teams as well and have a mini competition? There are lots more benefits here.

Help with training and fundraising

Parents for Children triathletes raised over £20,000 in the London Triathlon and we hope that the 2008 event will enable us to help even more vulnerable children to have a brighter future.

We can offer you lots of fundraising advice and a Parents for Children fundraiser's pack to start you on your way. We are asking our corporate teams to try to raise at least £1,000 in sponsorship for us – that's a target of £333.33 each for a team of three people.

If you'd like to join us, our events team would love to hear from you. You can use our online form, email [email protected], or call 020 7520 2880.
