Adoption and permanency service

Parents for Children was established in 1976 and has over 30 years’ experience of finding permanent homes for children with special needs, throughout the UK. We are an approved adoption agency and foster care provider.

We specialise in placing:

  • Children with physical disabilities
  • Children with learning difficulties
  • Children who have suffered abuse or neglect
  • Children with complex health needs
  • Children affected by their parents’ use of drugs and alcohol
  • Older children
  • Sibling groups

Our social work team can provide countrywide coverage for assessments, submission to panel and pre- and post-placement and adoption support for carers and families.

Our unique and well-proven family finding model offers a chance for family life for children with complex needs and provides excellent value for money for local authorities.

You can view the profiles of some of our carers who are available to offer permanent foster care places to children here.

We can provide

  • The services of experienced family placement social workers
  • Detailed project planning from the outset of a placement. This ensures that the expectations and responsibilities of all the parties involved are clear and are agreed in advance
  • Joint assessment of the all-important post-placement support package
  • Access to sponsored advertising in the national and regional press
  • Writing, design and printing of child’s profile, which we send to our mailing list
  • Prompt and comprehensive follow-up to all enquiries about individual children
  • Detailed preparation and assessment of prospective carers
  • Post-placement and post-adoption support for the new family
  • In some cases, we have families who have been assessed and approved, and who are awaiting a suitable child

Our adoption and permanency team will be happy to answer any questions you may have about our service. Please contact [email protected] or call 020 7520 2881.
